The Durban Declaration and Programme of Action (DDPA)
2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the United Nations World Conference against Racism, in Durban, South Africa.
This two-week historic Conference, held at the Heads of State level, concluded with the declaration: - "the trans-Atlantic slave trade, slavery, colonialism and apartheid were crimes against humanity."
20 years later, this Durban Declaration and Programme of Action (DDPA) continues to provide the most comprehensive framework for addressing racism in all its manifestations as it pertains to Africans, and people of African descent. This could not have been possible without decades of Pan African activism. .
In recognition of 20 years, this website will host official statements made by Pan African civil society and other entities that continue to hold governments accountable to the DDPA, and bring accounting to the injustices of the past and present.
